Depart The Academy Llandarcy and travel through Skewen, Neath Abbey and Cadoxton before entering the country roads of the Neath Valley to Glynneath. From Glynneath you face your first climb towards Ystradfellte at the base of the Brecon Beacons. Continue up to Defynnog joining the Llandovery Road. Time for a well earned rest at the Erwlon Caravan Site. Food will be served and there are toilet and shower facilities available. See how the legs feel before deciding on your choice of route. At Llandovery do you turn right and head towards the stunning scenery of the Llyn Brianne Reservoir. You will be faced with a tough climb but the views when you get there will be well worth it. After enjoying the downhill ride back to Llandovery you rejoin the route where those who chose not to go on the Reservoir continue the ride.
You will soon be faced with your next challenge the climb over the Black Mountains before heading in to Pontardawe. The final climb short but tough up over Rhos and down to Neath before returning to The Academy.
